wk 01 · fig. 01–03 — the method

How a set becomes a number.

Every working set becomes an estimated one-rep max. That feeds a single 0–1000 strength score — or industry-standard DOTS / Wilks — plus an honest percentile against a cohort matched to your sex, age, and years trained. Here is A.R.’s very first week, traced through.

  1. fig. 01 — estimate

    SET 01 — BENCH150 lb × 7e1RM185 lbepley — w × (1 + r/30) · 150 × 37/30 = 185

    Estimate

From reps and weight we estimate a one-rep max for every lift using established strength formulas — no maxing out required. A.R.’s 150 lb × 7 opens the ledger at 185.

  2. fig. 02 — score

    Score

Estimated 1RM, volume, progressive overload, and consistency combine into one 0–1000 number. Week one reads 612. Prefer the classics? Switch to DOTS or Wilks any time.

  3. fig. 03 — rank

    Rank

The score lands in a cohort matched by sex, age, and years trained — the 41st percentile, honestly. A beginner is never measured against a veteran.

What gets measured

Weeks nine to thirteen: 96.5, 96.0, 96.5, 97.0, 96.5. Nobody posts this part.

Plateaus are where tracking earns its keep. Everything Peak Fettle measures, in one index:

  • 01

    Track every set

Log reps, weight, and effort in seconds. Sets group into workouts automatically, and the app estimates your 1RM from every working set — no spreadsheets.

  • 02

    A strength score, 0–1000

One honest number from your estimated 1RM. Beginners see fast early gains; advanced lifters see real, asymptotic progress. Or use industry-standard DOTS / Wilks.

  • 03

    Percentiles that are fair

See where you rank against athletes at your level — cohort-matched by sex (with a unisex opt-out), age, and years trained. A beginner is never measured against a veteran.

  • 04

    AI plans that adapt

Answer a short survey and get a periodized plan built around your goals, equipment, and schedule. Swap exercises, shift days, adjust volume — it re-plans as you log.

  • 05

    Streaks you can keep

Consistency is the whole game. Even a five-minute visit counts. Miss a day? A make-up window and an emergency override keep an honest streak alive when life happens.

  • 06

    Lift and cardio, together

Log a barbell session and a 5K in the same workout. Graphs adapt — splits and pace for cardio, estimated 1RM and score for strength. Every discipline in one place.

  • 07

    Yours, on your phone

The free tier is local-first: every set lives in an on-device database and works fully offline — no account round-trips, no server required. Upgrade to Pro and your training syncs across devices. Your data, your call.

  • 08

    Exact numbers, forever

Type 82.5 kg and the ledger keeps 82.5 kg — exactly. Fixed-point storage means no rounding drift and no “186.75 lb” surprises, whether you think in kilos or pounds.

  • 09

    Plugged into your day

Apple Health and Health Connect sync heart rate, sleep, and body weight in; finished workouts write back. A home-screen widget and a live rest-timer keep sessions moving.

fig. 05 — weeks 12–16, up close. the dip is the plan working.

Rest is part of the program.

A deload week reads as a dip on the chart and progress in the plan. Streaks work the same way: even a five-minute session keeps one alive, a missed day gets a make-up window, and an emergency override exists for real life. A streak is only lost when the system is sure you quit — not busy.

The honest FAQ.

q.01Is Peak Fettle free?

Yes. The free tier includes full progress tracking, competitive percentile rankings, and a library of proven starter templates (Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower) — and it is local-first: everything is stored on your phone and works fully offline. The paid tier unlocks fully personalized, AI-generated plans that adapt to your logged performance, plus cross-device sync.

q.02How is my strength score calculated?

Your strength score is a single 0–1000 number derived from your estimated one-rep max (E1RM), then weighted by training volume, progressive overload, and consistency. It is built to reward steady improvement, so beginners see fast early gains and advanced lifters see honest, slowing progress. Prefer an established standard? Switch to DOTS or Wilks at any time — the same scoring experienced lifters already trust.

q.03How are the percentiles calculated?

Every ranking is cohort-matched by sex (with an opt-out for a unisex scale), age, and total years in the sport — because relative gains naturally slow as you advance. You are compared to people in a genuinely similar situation, never to a 10-year veteran.

q.04Do I have to lift weights to use it?

No. Peak Fettle tracks weightlifting, running, cycling, swimming, team sports and more. For cardio it follows split times, pace trends, and consistency instead of 1RM.

q.05What happens if I miss a workout?

Missed sessions are handled without shame. You get a make-up window within the same week, plus an emergency override for genuine life events. A streak is only lost if two sessions are missed in a week with no make-up and no override.

q.06How do the AI plans handle weight goals?

You set a cut, bulk, or recomp target at any time. The AI assesses feasibility and guides you toward a sustainable target — explaining why aggressive short-term goals tend to relapse. You always have the final say.

q.07Which devices are supported?

iOS first, with Android to follow. Apple Health and Health Connect integration is built in: heart rate, sleep, and body weight sync into the app, and finished workouts write back to Apple Health. iOS also gets a home-screen widget and a Live Activity rest-timer. Deeper wearable support (Apple Watch, Garmin) is in active development.

q.08Is Peak Fettle a substitute for medical or coaching advice?

No. Peak Fettle is a training and tracking tool, not medical advice. Its scores, percentiles, and AI plans are informational. Consult a qualified professional before starting or changing a program, particularly if you have an injury or a medical condition.
